Ah, this chapter! I found this chapter interestingly frustrating. Given the current climate between Russia and the United States it seems silly to me that they are tiptoeing around each other, but using others to fight their battles. I have never known what the cold war really was, but I do now and think its like 2 siblings who can't get along so they involve their other siblings. I think it is unfortunate the
cold war is not done away with. I think more peace can be had or felt in the world if the Russia and the US just cut the crap out.
I thought it was interesting to know how Marx played a part in communism and in reforming the class structures. Marx created 3 new classes: the middle class and the working class. These were created when Marx called for a violent revolution by the poor people to take control of the industrialization that was controlled by the greedy rich people. Marx thought that Europe would be a place for communism because they were already experiencing industrialization. However, it was surprising that China and Russia became communist. Russia and China were so rural and agricultural, and not industrialized, they did not seem like likely candidates of communism. Marx wanted to create a place where the approach to work was more humane for the poor people working their. Today, I think Marx would be disappointed. People are still enslaved to by their because of the golden handcuffs also known as employee perks.
